The Girl in Room no.105

The girl in room No. 105 is another Chetan Bhagat book, I really loved the book. It’s a murder mystery thriller which would keep you buckled up and engaged till the last chapter.

The story is basically about the love story between Keshav and Zara which ends tragically after the death of Zara.

The story starts as usual with the Keshav meeting with the author on a flight journey. He tells about how he and Zara first met each other and then got to know each other falling in love and being in a relationship.

They drift apart for due to certain reasons, but Keshav can’t get over her for so many years and call her on her on new year but she brushes him off. Things change when she messages him on her birthday telling him to come over to her room 105 only for him to find her dead.

Keshav cannot believe she is dead and thinks that it is a murder and spends time apart from teaching at coaching centre to solve this murder mystery along with his best friend Golu.

The best part of this book is the way it is written, being a lover for mysteries I have realised one thing common in them that is the killer is some one you just don’t suspect so I know that whoever is the suspect at the start of the book is probably those who are innocent.

The particularity of the book was it took one suspect at a time, like they suspect one person fit their theory analyse it and realise why the person cannot be the killer and then some other clues leading to another suspect.

My favourite character would be Golu, because he is one true friend that is really hard to find. He is loyal, loving, caring person. He stands with Keshav whatever it maybe and always supports him.

My least favourite character would be Zara, I felt sorry for Keshav when she died but he did loved her a lot, but as the story progresses so many facts and secrets are opened up about her, though a bold and truly amazing personality the way her life ends up is worth a lesson.

It was really thrilling to read this book and I would definitely recommend others to read it.

Long Lost

Long Lost is an amazing thriller written by Harlan Coben which contains 372 pages and 39 chapters.

The story is basically about Terese Collins who is ex-lover of Myron Bolitar and calls him after 8 years for something which leads to something life threatening.

The story is a real roller coaster ride, it begins with mystery and ends with mystery. When I started reading this book, I just couldn’t keep it down, so many emotions flow through when we read.

The story starts with Myron friend Win telling him there is a secret of Terese, but he refuses to know.

He gets a call from Terese after 8 long years and tells him to come to Paris after reaching there he gets to know that she had got a call from her Ex-husband telling her to come to Paris and he could tell her something that can change her entire life, but they then find that he is murdered and Terese is a suspect.

Things get messed up starting that, they discover things that started 10 years ago in a car accident, and after the suicide of Rick’s father Sam things get complicated and messed up with terrorists and even have to run for life.

 *Spoiler Alert*

The only thing that I was a bit disappointed about would be the ending another chapter could have been added showing the conversation with Carrie if that was her real name.

Till the end I couldn’t figure out who killed Ricky and Mario, never the name of the killer was mentioned, but Carrie was seen in both sites. I am curious about how Terese went away with Carrie no such conversation is mentioned.

I can’t say if Carrie is innocent or not, her character doesn’t seem like it but maybe everyone do deserve a second chance in life so it’s acceptable.

Lastly the ending I assumed the boy to be child of Terese and Myron as he has blond head and perfect posture but I read somewhere it was supposed to tell that in the investigation some terrorist did get a chance to slip away.

Since this is a complete series, I hope it would have been mentioned in the next series or something.

My favourite character would be Win, he was just awesome, he helps Myron every time and loves him dearly plus is a free spirit.

My least favourite character would be Terese as she never do consider the feelings of other people in her life the moment she decides to vanish which was often.

This is one of the best books that I have read till now and definitely recommend everyone to read it.

Put Your Head On My Shoulder

Put Your Head On My Shoulder is a Chinese drama having 24 episodes in total each of 42 minutes.

I loved this series so very much I really don’t know why I was avoiding to watch it but once I did it’s one of my favourite dramas of all time and something that I can watch again any time of the day♥️

The story is about Gu Wei Yi a physics student and Su Tuo Mo an accounts student who aspires to go into advertising.

The story begins when Su Tuo Mo has to go for an interview with her friend and crush Fu Pai but they Crash into Gu Wei Yi and exchange bags which gets both of them in trouble and made them acquaintance.

After getting job in a company Su Tuo Mo’s mother request her to stay in her friend’s house as it is closer to the company than her dorm. Her mother’s friend turns out to be Gu Wei Yi’s mom and they later become roommates.

The series progresses and slowly they turn into lovers and get married.

My favourite character from the series would obviously be Gu Wei Yi, his acting is so fabulous that my heart melted and now he is my boyfriend goals. All his dedication to woo her and his care for his friends and carreer, just wow.

My least favorite character is hard to tell cuz there is no one whom I didn’t like at all for sometimes some negative characters maybe but that’s all so I won’t specify any.

I Loved this series because they gave proper importance to every aspect, friendship is shown as important as your lover so they are available for both. Career and Romance has equal importance too. Many series shows that once the character falls in love then there are many scenes of them together and little about whatever they were doing earlier here it is not so.

Majorly all the scenes are so cute with the sound effects that it makes you squeal with delight. Not many plot holes that gives a feeling the how and why just the one thing I would like to know would be if Su Tuo Mo went for job again in different or the same company, cuz after she quits nothing is mentioned about it.

Ofcourse I would recommend this series to anyone and everyone. It’s a must watch.

Cornish Stranger

A Cornish Stranger is a book written by Liz Fenwick, has 292 pages and 19 chapters. It is a story about bond between Jaunty and her granddaughter Gabe and their secrets.

To be honest I was disappointed reading this book, the story is written beautifully and many details are given to surrounding, the water and even the revealing secrets but the major fact was the characters didn’t speak much.

‘Spoiler Alert’

The story begins with Gabriella (Gabe) going to stay with her Grandmother as she was becoming weak with her growing age and she knew that her end was near. Gabe is an amazing singer but due to some incident she stops singing and now composes music for advertisements.

She tries to make each of their moment together count and one day there is heavy storm and she sees a man drowning and without thinking much Gabe rescues him. The name of the stranger is Fin, Jaunty has a special liking towards Fin and allows him to stay in her studio which she used while she was an artist, Gabe is defensive about the stranger but later on falls in love with him.

Jaunty has many secrets in her life and suddenly she has the urge to tell it to the whole world and starts writing it down and as her days comes near, she tells Fin about it and makes him promise to give her written notes to Gabe after she dies.

The shocking revelations of her past makes Gabe shaken and midst the funeral word gets out that Jaunty was a fraud artist Fin helps her during this and finally they end up happily.

I don’t have any favourite characters in the entire book, as I was getting frustrated reading it, wishing that they would talk but they didn’t. Gabe saw Jaunty writing but never asked what it was nor Jaunty wished to tell her then why did she write it down to be revealed only after her death?

Most frustrating part was both of them trusted Fin more than they trusted each other. They could talk with Fin about things that they had difficulty to speak about, they were surprised with themselves but I felt real sad knowing that they valued a stranger over their own blood relative.

Jaunty’s character is complex, she is charming, kind-hearted, amusing but the major factor was she was too selfish. Being a war widow and single mother had been difficult for her, but she had wronged every person she was close to, her friends, family, lover, husband. Surviving during the war was difficult but all she did to survive was distasteful. Jean’s death was not her fault but everything after I felt it was her fault and not telling Gabe but Fin. Till the end of the novel I felt Fin was not a good person and in every turn I believed he would do something bad he did but that too had Jaunty behind it.

All in all I felt that Jaunty never loved Gabe nor trusted her but the guilt of all her lies and crimes came flashing back to her as her time was near so she wanted the world to know what kind of woman she was but since she was coward she decided to reveal after she died.

I have mixed feelings for this book, it’s written good and so many secrets are there but I wish I hadn’t read it. The only fact that I hate the most is characters not talking to each other about important stuff, except that part this book is for a good read.

Because We Are Together

Because we are together is written by JittiRain and I got inspired to read this book by the series- Together the series.

I loved both the series and the book but I prefer the book over the series because firstly, obviously it is more detailed than the series and secondly for the ending in the series was very disappointing in contrast to the lovely ending in the book.

The book is originally written in Thai and I have read the English translation of it so it has around 538 pages.

The story is basically about two boys Tine and Sarawat. Tine get confessed to by Green who is gay and becomes extremely clingy to him to protect himself from Green, Tine asks Sarawat to fake flirt with him which turns to be something much more exciting.

The book is mostly written in Tine’s point of view, while two chapters are in Sarawat’s point of view. It is so exciting to read about how things are happening and we can actually see their relationship developing and get an insight of their feeling.

I loved this book so much that I can read it all over again anytime, same goes for the series I can watch it all over again because of the wonderful acting and scenes, and the way it is depicted maybe skipping the ending.

The book is very genuine and sweet, all the scenes that happen between the protagonists is very sweet and charming, also the scenes with their friends is exciting and entertaining the best part of the book is that nothing is overexaggerated or over dramatic, many things keep on happening but its genuine and relatable.

Since this book is written in first person its hard to tell about my favourite character but I will still go with Sarawat because of the dialogues he says, his genuine care and love. I love tine as well because since the book is written considering him I can fully relate to things he say and thinks and the way he acts and of course he is so cute.

I love this book so much that I would highly recommend anyone to read it and of course to watch the series too, maybe the series first because then it becomes much more relatable.

Legend Of The Blue Sea

Legend of the blue sea is a Korean drama having 16 episodes and starring Lee Min-Ho and Jun Ji-Hyun in the lead.

I loved this drama a lot and would highly recommend people to watch it. It tells a love story between a man and a mermaid. The story begins in an historic era where Dam Ramyeon falls in love with a mermaid named Swa Hwae but have a tragic ending but now in 2016 they meet again fall in love again.

Spoiler Alert

After watching it there are several questions in my mind first being were, they trying to show parallel universe or reincarnation? If it was parallel universe then that says why things were repeating itself but if it was reincarnation how come the entire people of that time and this time are reincarnated at the same time? Also the fact that every one of them are able to recollect their past self somehow.

The negative characters. They were portrayed vaguely and so was their ending. The biggest negative character that I feel in this series was Father of Hoo Joon Jae, like seriously that man lived with no guilt and after one sorry that too over voice mail he died and people forgave him. He was wrong in so many ways and I hate him the most in the entire series. He was happy with his wife and son suddenly the second negative character Kang Jiyeon his wife classmate enters he let himself get seduce by her, divorce his wife, separate the mother and child with no accurate reason, does not care for his biological son at all, every damn time wronged him, didn’t look for him when he left home but during the time he was bound to retire makes a will and gives everything to his biological son and tries to find him, and not give a damn about his step son and wife whom he literally chose. Like seriously man how dumb are you and for 17 years they are together and he don’t know anything about his second wife not even her real name. And dies just like that. I wish they made him atleast.

I wish they showed more past of Hoe Chi-Hyun, he was shown as a negative character but he was not negative in my point of view, I feel sad for him, I wished he had not died either

Then I wanted to know more about the girl who was hybrid in the past and hence could hear the mermaid but what about the present life her parents had already divorced so she could not have been a hybrid then how come she could hear the mermaid?

Most annoying part of the series is the memory loss. Every time anyone lose their memory they felt like they were missing something and tried hard to remember it. But the three year leap, everyone looses their memories since Sim Cheon was a major part of it they must be feeling they are missing something major but they don’t they just move on with their life.

Though I loved the series these things keep on puzzling me but all I can think is it’s series so just go with the flow, the plus points are the major cute and innocent scene when the mermaid comes to the land for the first time. It makes us warm inside and excitement goes on till the end and many things happen that makes you wondering that this really didn’t happen right now. All in all its very enjoyable.

The 3 Mistakes Of My Life

The 3 mistakes of my life is written by Chetan Bhagat. The book contains 258 pages and is published by Rupa Publications.

The basic story is about Govind an entrepreneur who made three grave mistakes in his life that changes everything in his life forever.

This was my first Chetan Bhagat book that I read so I didn’t know the way the book generally progresses that is the protagonist meeting the author so it was kind of surprise for me also the way the book is written is very captivating it feels like you are reading a true story, everything is fine upto the climax where sudden realisation hit that it’s fiction, maybe true but I felt its over exaggeration of the situation.

The story starts with the author getting an email which is also a suicide note so he tries to save the person (Govind) and tracks him down in Ahmedabad. While admitted in the hospital he tells his story about the three grave mistakes he had made in his life which led him to commit suicide attempt.

It is a one sitting read kind of book, thoroughly entertaining and indulging. The journey of Govind, Ishan and Om is amazing and their friendship is something that we can cheerish till the end of the book. The ending is good but leaves a bitter sweet moment.

All in all I had an amazing time reading this book and highly recommend it.

A Winter’s Tale

This is also written by Trisha Ashley who is now one of my favourite authors.

This book contains 403 pages and has 36 chapters.

The basic story is about a girl Sophy who in her childhood was living in Winter’s end but due to certain circumstances she had to leave and comes back 30 years later when she inherits it.

Winter’s End has been the household of Winter’s since centuries, typical winter’s have red-golden hairs and fair skin. There is a secret of Winter’s end that is passed down the generation within the women of the family which is the treasure of the Winter’s end.

Shophy doesn’t have the typical appearance of that of a Winter and is often scolded by her grandfather so when she is 8 years old her mother takes her along to never return to Winter’s end.

Alys Blezzard is believed to be a witch and a Winter. Sophy very much believe’s in this as she has been told in her entire childhood. 30 years later she returns to Winter’s End after the death of her Grandfather as he wishes for her to give winter’s end its original glory.

Her handsome cousin Jack is a charmer and wants Winter’s end to be his by any means and there is Seth the head gardener who is Obssed with the finishing of the garden knot.

The loved this book particularly because it has two stories to tell at once. One being that of Alys Blezzard at the beginning of each chapter and that of Sophy Winter who must maintain Winter’s end with all the responsibility involved.

The book is very descriptive about the house, it’s halls and beautiful garden. Along with heart warming characters who play important part as an when required.

This book is sweet and calm and is for pleasant reading. I can’t particularly say it’s a must read but rather would say it’s worth a read.

Chocolate Wishes

Chocolate wishes is a story about Chole Lyon who makes chocolate wishes. Haper Collin publication, which contains 375 pages and 37Chapeters with wonderful titles.

This book will preactically melt you and make you believe in magic and occult I think.

There are series of complicated yet simplified relationship throughout the book. Chole is best friend with Felix and Poppy and their mothers Janey, Lou and Mag are also best friends.

Chole’s mother had took off six years ago and she had broken her engagement with David during the same time as she was mother her half brother Jake. After these years Jake is now an adult and Chole has moved from Manchester to Sticklepond now David also comes back in her life along with her first love Raffy Sinclair.

Raffy is the new vicar too having their past she doesn’t want to meet him at the same time she cannot avoid him as she realises that she still loves him.

The best part of the story is, it is simple you know the series of events that is going to take place but you keep on antocipating what is going to happen next. The character can surprise you on various occasions with their reply and action.

It contains humour, magic , romance and every element would indulge you in such a way that makes you to read in a single sitting.

I really loved the story and would highly recommend to give it a read.

An Appointment With Death

This book is written by Agatha Christie. This book is very very interesting and can be read in one day during reading all you can imagine is where this is going and constantly keep on thinking about who and how and it’s the end when you catch on.

I hight recommend to read this book totally intriguing and indulging. It’s a psychological book giving into the mentality and thinking of a Boynton family, their mother and family members, who have come for an international holiday where they meet Sarah Kings, Dr Gerad who is psychologist where Mrs Boynton dies and Mr.Hercule Piot solves the case.

There is this one thing which I like as well as dislike about detective books, it’s the fact that there are always many suspect and listing to their side of story and listing evidence while reading we get so indulged that we don’t get to realise who minute things do matter which indeed are essential to solve the case.

*spoilers Ahead*

When Sarah first meets Dr.Gerad she describes Boynton family there is several views for the particular behaviour of the family and tries to explain things.

The best part of the book was how well it asks questions, makes us ask the same question and gives a possible answer and then suddenly connects and gives us another answer. Many parts have been repeatedly as the same story is told by all the family members and friends in their point of view. I which Detective Hercules points out to them how they must have killed The old woman but later reveals all he wanted to prove was the innocence of the family members.

For me the best part of the book was the ending totally not expected though hints were dropped every now and then in the book how it ended was not something we would have expected.

But it kind of made me feel again that what’s the point of reading when none of the suspects are ever the actual killer.

But it’s one of the best book out there and worth a read. The way it is written is precious every chapter giving tit bit of hints about woh is the killer. I really enjoyed reading it.
